Indication:

Treatment of severe alopecia areata in adults and adolescents 12 years and older.

Dosage & Administration:

            ● Standard dose: 50mg once daily, taken orally (by mouth).

            ● Take with or without food.

            ● Swallow the capsule whole—do not crush, split, or chew. If swallowing is difficult, the capsule may be opened and mixed with soft food (e.g., applesauce, yogurt).

            ● If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible unless the next dose is due within 12 hours. Do not double the dose.

Precautions:

     ⒈ Serious Infections: Increased risk of tuberculosis (TB), herpes zoster (shingles), and other infections. TB screening is required before starting treatment.

     ⒉ Malignancy: May increase risk of lymphoma and other cancers, especially in current or past smokers.

     ⒊ Cardiovascular Events: Monitor for heart-related risks (e.g., heart attack, stroke), particularly in patients with cardiovascular risk factors.

     ⒋ Liver Function: Monitor liver enzymes (ALT/AST) before and during treatment.

     ⒌ Pregnancy/Fertility: May cause fetal harm. Use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 1 month after the last dose.

Common Side Effects:

            ● Headache, acne

            ● Upper respiratory infections

            ● Increased creatine kinase levels

            ● Nausea, diarrhea

Storage:

Keep at room temperature (20–25°C/68–77°F), away from moisture and heat.
